Circle 67 presents The Two Gentlemen of Verona
“How Love can trifle with itself.”
Love tests loyalty when lifelong friends, Valentine and Proteus, both fall in love with Silvia. But when her father, the Duke, determines she should marry the rich, but foolish Thurio, he banishes Valentine, leaving Proteus to woo Silvia for himself. The stage is now set for a tale that involves high jinx, betrayal, a motley group of outlaws, a rope ladder, many letters and of course the hope of redemption.
Written sometime around 1590, The Two Gentlemen of Verona is considered to be Shakespeare's first play for the stage and makes its Circle 67 debut on their summer tour. Join them at The Racehorse for one hour of entertainment packed with passion, fun, music and Crab the dog! Entrance is free and basic seating is provided. If you enjoy the show, please give generously when the hat is passed round at the end.
As their name implies, Circle 67 was founded in 1967 to bring high-quality drama to the local area. They always welcome new members; so if you are interested in joining them, or simply want details of forthcoming productions, please contact them via their website.
