Dear Friends,
We have had a very busy January at The Racehorse with a series of successful events including Burns Night and several Live Music Events along with the Open Mic Night. On top of this our Sunday Roasts are proving highly popular, as are our Wednesday Community Lunches. We are also trying to establish other regular evenings such as the Darts Night, Vinyl Music Night and Games Evening -- details for these are in the adverts opposite.
Our Valentine’s Night event is nearly fully-booked already, but we will be open for drinks too if we can squeeze you in somewhere!
Quiz Night this month will also be slightly different as we host the Annual Village Quiz in aid of St Andrew’s Church -- so please join us if you can to help raise vital funds for our village church. As with nearly all our events please book in advance to make sure we have space for you -- details below.
The Race for The Racehorse is nearly won!
Progress on purchasing the pub is going well and to schedule. Currently we are waiting for the solicitors to sort out a few conveyancing details, mainly around the overage clause, after which we will be in a position to exchange contracts and, fingers crossed, complete shortly after. We can’t estimate the completion date as yet but expect it to be well within our target date of the end of March. More good news is that the grant money is safely in our bank account… a huge relief! So expect news of a celebration at your pub very soon!
The committee is busy making plans for the future as once we own the pub we can’t just sit back and relax! One of our first tasks will be to renovate the upstairs flat, as this will provide a valuable additional income stream. We are also aware that in the near future we will need to get help running the pub through employing someone. Rest assured that volunteers will remain key to running the pub, indeed they are central to the success of the pub, but we also recognise that looking to the future we cannot remain dependent on two or three key volunteers.
In the meantime it would be lovely to see you here, whether for a drink, a meal or one of the host of events we have lined up in the coming weeks!
