The Race for the Racehorse

As you will know from our last update, the owner decided to take The Racehorse off the market in April and it was our intention to write and understand his reasoning and to see if we could, at the very least, meet with him to discuss the future of the pub. Sadly he has chosen not to respond to us. This has left us perplexed as to why, but still determined to keep the Race for the Racehorse going.

Our understanding is that the owner’s option to apply for a Change of Use for re-developing the site would be severely limited for 5 years from when the Racehorse was recognized as an Asset of Community Value. In the absence of any information about the intentions for the pub, we hope that the owner does not intend to leave our pub empty and looking more and more dilapidated.

What we want is a thriving pub in the village and we are, therefore, currently exploring other ways to open a line of communication with the owner. If any of you are able to help with this please do so, or let us know your thoughts. We appreciate your patience whilst this rather unexpected turn of events plays out and will endeavor to find a solution and will, of course, keep you posted on any developments.
